What does it feel like to rest in gratitude? In other words, what is the general “mood” you find yourself in? If that sounds funny, I invite you to consider where you currently rest.
You may have never given much thought or attention to this idea, and that’s certainly okay. However, for the heck of it, what comes up when you contemplate and bring curiosity to your resting attitude or mood?
As I sat in gratitude, a couple of things came up for me. I became acutely aware of the time in my life when I was generally UNHAPPY (a polite way of saying bitchy). I’m talking about long periods of time over decades of my life where there were massive gaps in the expression of happiness or gratitude. Painful to admit, but so freaking true.
I can provide many reasons for this overall shitty outlook. For example, the people, places, things, and happenings caused me to feel this way … or I can ask a better question.
What was the common denominator regardless of the moving parts? What was the constant, the ever-present? And again, with awareness of the discomfort in admitting this truth, the one constant was ME.
Another question arises…What was missing for me that I chose to fill myself with anger and negativity?
The easy answer is GRATITUDE and, more complicated, the lack of awareness around what that means, lol!
When we add higher vibrational fuel into our energetic system vs. forcing ourselves into affirmations and mantras that may be out of alignment (or not yet fully embodied) with where we currently are, we can create a disconnect in our system. I refer to this as the “white knuckling” attitude shift.
A more embodied and, therefore, sustainable approach to shifting the resting state begins with yet another question. How do I want to show up for my life daily?
I find this question one that clients, friends, and hell, even myself, struggle to answer.
So I sit and listen to what’s on my heart, often with a cup of KAKAO. And in the silent, still, and open-hearted space, tune into all that I am grateful for in my life—often beginning with the physical space, then moving to the relationships and all the natural beauty surrounding me every day. I continue appreciating how my heart knows to beat, and my lungs automatically breathe. It’s nothing short of miraculous.
I allow the wave of love, connection, community, variety, safety, and liberation that comes with the sense of gratitude to permeate my being.
From this energetic state, I can release my grip on the identity that I am “bitchy” leaving space for the softer, more aware version of my true self to emerge and begin to grow and expand with the natural flow of life where I have direct access to grace, leading to a new resting place of gratitude.
So I’ll leave you with an invitation….
Set a date with yourself and a cup of your favorite warm beverage, coffee, tea, or cacao. Listen to what arises in your heart and practice gratitude.
And if you feel called, join an upcoming CBQ Session and be supported in a group while connecting inward with a cup of cacao, releasing emotional blocks with the power of our breath, and practicing QiGong for grounding and vibrancy.
Also, feel free to contact me if you want to explore more of what is coming up for you so that you can release old habits, the “white knuckling,” and live in alignment with your true self.
Let Love Flow,
Bobbi
