I’m excited to share the challenge I started last week…#40 Days of Devotion. I already feel the power of sitting in stillness with gratitude and prayer. Practicing stillness in the mornings is not new to me, but adding intention, prayer, and gratitude makes a marked difference in how I “flow” through my days.
While sitting in devotion, a theme has become present for me – looping or repeating a pattern. So I became curious and dug in a little deeper. Here is what I’ve come up with, a pattern is born from a desire for familiarity or to control outcomes. These patterns run deep and are stored in the body’s tissues.
And I hold reverence, even compassion, for the pattern. At one point in my life, it has served to keep me safe and was necessary for my evolution. At a glance, it makes perfect sense, but as I peel back the onion. I begin to think . . . Is this pattern serving me now?
The answer – is NO! I begin to notice that I take a few steps forward, but I am white-knuckling my way through something I desire to change in my life, then, at some point, run out of steam and revert to what is familiar.
I say things like:
. . . it’s too hard,
. . . it wasn’t meant to be,
. . . or I am incapable of achieving X.
Then, I “settle” for what is vs. what I desire. By the way, this is the opposite of flow, and it is being STUCK!
It’s also possible that this stuckness begins earlier in the decision making process with thoughts like “that may be dangerous or too risky.” Can you recall a time when you got the urge to try something new or make a change and decided against it?
These “feelings” that arise are the body’s language; as we know, the body keeps the score and overrides the mind. Hence our tendency toward SELF-SABOTAGE.
What does it take to clear these patterns, move forward, and restore flow ??
All of us are ripe for this process! Now is the time for cleansing or rebirth, renewal, and realigning with the flow by syncing the logical mind with the emotional body. And in Spring, abundance and creativity abound.
As the temps heat up, we may feel the pull of desire firing up the winds of change to transform the predictable future to one more aligned with a higher version of ourselves or the transformation long overdue.
I’m here to tell you we don’t have to try to override the mind. We “get to” go deeper into the body and heal the rupture that created the pattern with love and compassion, allowing it to integrate fully, allowing the mind and body coherence that dissolves the stuckness and resistance to the action that allows alignment and sustainable transformation . . .
Let this be the year that you stop rebounding back to old patterns!
